We recomend you to visit our two natural parks "Font Roja" and "Mariola", excellent examples of conservation of Mediterranean forest with his fabulous forest of holm oaks, ashs, maples... and varied fauna like the wild cat, badger, the wild boar, the genet, and a great variety of birds; robin it’s probably the nicerst colourful one, real owl or the white eagle, as well as the snow diggings and coal bunkers which preserves along the time in the park of the "Font Roja" where is located the house, and the great variety of flowers and aromatic plants of "Mariola".
Next to Casa Bons Aires you’ll findthe route GR-7, reason why you don’t need to use car to enjoy with fabulous excursions of different intensities and difficulty crossing the Natural Park and visit the Natural Place "Els Canalons",where levees of crystalline water are waiting for you.
20 minutes by car will find a horse riding school where you will be able to ride a horse, donkey, and even camels, making fabulous excursions in the hearth of nature.
It is a good idea to practice cycling and cross in our green route as well as to visit the natural parks, by road because is forbide cycling , motorbikes, quads, etc., along the park.
In the city there are Free time companies which organize adventure activities.
Our main festival is celebrated in April from 21st to 24th Moors and Christians, International Tourist Interest . Also in winter, at Christmas time, we enjoy the oldest and beautiful “Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos” on the 6th of January . In September the “Romería”.
In the city centre you will enjoy walking through more than 750 years of history. You will find modernist style houses; “La casa del pavo, Círculo Industrial” buildings from end of XIX century and beginning of XX century, both of them had been declared as Cultural Interest Buildings.
Also you can visit the museums; Local Festival Museum (Museu de la Festa), Archaeological museum, Military refuge where it’s possible to go back to Spanish Civil War period.
Alcoi has great factories settled in the city during the Industrial Revolution and now they constitute one of the most valuable patrimonies of the Industrial Archaeology in the Comunidad Valenciana. Our gastronomy is very rich and varied; stuffed peppers (pimientos rellenos), pie of meat (pastel de carne), monjavenes, sugared almond (peladillas) and the typical “tapas”.
